Rock with us Friday at Tycoon’s for Mentor Duluth


Make Friday more than just a night out — come hear Truman (and the Step Rockets from Minneapolis), enjoy good food and drink, win prizes and support Mentor Duluth at the same time!

Mentor Duluth’s March into Mentoring Music Fundraiser kicks off Friday evening at Tycoon’s Zenith Alehouse, 132 E. Superior St. Truman takes the stage at 8 p.m. and The Step Rockets follow at 10 p.m. (Speaking of The Step Rockets — have you heard their song “Kisser”?)

Besides the live music, “drinks, raffle drawings and much more” are promised. Here are some of the top prizes (buy $5 raffle tickets for chances to win):

Jan. 23: Timothy Martin the New Norm, TRUMAN + Abe Curran + Rachael K

trmnpic2Truman are delighted, tickled, OVERJOYED to be part of this COOL, ECLECTIC SHOW at the Red Herring starting at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016.


Headlining the event with some of Duluth’s finest musical minds is Timothy Martin & The New Norm. Members include (lifted straight from TM’s facebook page): Rio Daugherty, B Wells, Peter Knutson, Dicky Brooks, Bernie Larsen, Russ Sackett, Jim Hagstrom, Brad Nelson T Bruce Bauer, Tom Fabjance, Bob Olson. They do a very cool post-punk, alternative thing.

Middle card is yours TRULY, (A Band Called) Truman. We’ll be debuting a new saxophone player, Bradley Bombardier and some new tunes in our set: jam-packed with our roots rockin’ originals, a few ska-punk covers …. and …

a very special new Amy Winehouse cover sung by none other than Duluth’s own Rachael Kilgour, fresh off her triumphant Grand Prize win in the Lincoln Center’s NewSong Contest (really? She agreed to do this?) and on her way to Sundance Film Festival to perform on the same stage with STING!


Opening up the show at about 8:30 is Abe Curran (sans Blue Rooster, wethinks).

And the venue — the Red Herring. Need we say more?
